Since our first daughter born, me and my husband are never hanging out in an café together. Our hang out had changed from a cozy cafe into a fast food corner with playground inside or outside the corner.
Unlike me, Hery still can do this thing by himself or due to his job. So, it sounded unreal when he asked me (and the kids) to hang out in some new café at Kalibata City. Yes, it still lied inside our neighbourhood, but the theme was quite different. Especially from its name, it bounded my fav thing (book) and his (kopi/coffee).
I did know he was also eager to take some pictures in there.
And in one afternoon, just before the sun went down, after buying some milk at Farmers Market, the four of us went there.
THE THEME
There were only four visitors when we came. We prefer sat inside rather than outside, besides Hery needed a spot to take a picture.
The rattan jazzy hat as the hood of the lamp, old school wooden furniture, one big shelf on one side, and big wide glass windows on the other side made me confused on what the theme was. It was like trying to look fashionable yet retro.
Because its name, I couldn't deacribe the theme of their book collections either. It seemed I have a lot more books than theirs. Or maybe should I put my books here, because they didn't fit in my small unit here.
Maybe I can have a chat with the owner about that =)
From what I see, the visitors came because they want to use the free wifi. Bookopi lied on the Green Palace block of Kalibata City. The newest one, so internet signal was a big problem for the residences. Guess, bookopi offer them a nice place to read and to surf near their living.
THE MENU
As parents, whenever we go, the menu is one issue for us. And in bookopi, you find it hard to find some kids friendly menu.
As a café with wifi, they supposed to have more snacks. They don't have french fries or fried singkong, they only have toast bread.
Meanwhile the main meal were some steak and fried rice. I chose fried rice and markisa for the drink.
When the fried rice came, my eye brows lifted up. It was really original fried rice or should I called kampoeng fried rice. Hard rice and pale colour, lots of onions, less meats. And the kids didn't like it. I knew that.
The markisa itself was actually quite contemporare but again not kids friendly. They kind of confused when they sipped the markisa beans from the big straw.
Maybe I should come here alone =)
As I found it difficult to pleasure the kids with food, at the end they found something that interested them.
Books of course.
Though I doubted their picks of books, they actually provide children books with small chairs n table near the small shelf.
Maybe they did try to be kids friendly =D
Well at least Hery got some nice shot there.
They could be better. They should be.
