Amy's Story: Tooth Fairy on Malika's Birthday

March 21st is my oldest daughter's birthday. She turned out 4 this year. Still a toddler, but I am not in a rush. I guess =P.

As her previously birthdays, I've spent my feeling and tought thinking about the birthday theme since a month ago. But as her previously birthday, things were just not happen as I wanted to be.

A week before Malika's birthday, I've received an annoucement from her school that there would be a dental clinic's visit on the same day of her birthday.  Hmm guess the idea of giving a free cupcakes decorating class students was no longer valid. And I need to add more mini cupcakes then. Well, just ten. That shouldn't be a problem.

Then, a day before the D-day, my sister told me that my mom got a vertigo. A condition where she would not able to do anything other than sleep. As the power button in the house, of course I started to wonder who would do her daily routines and above it all who would be the one that will take care of her. Well my mom lives with her husband and my second brother. But my father is ... A man? Well you know what I mean =) while my brother, he is also a man, but he is pretty know how to take care of her but he is an employee. So ... What else could be better that a stay at home mom with two kids who lives nearby? =)

That brought me to a conclusion. Need to go to Tebet early on Friday because it was a weekly shopping day. Usually on Friday my mom would start cooking things for the next week's menu. If she couldn't do it, it means there were nothing left to eat on Friday.

And it means, I won't have time to stay with Malika during the clinic visit. I tought it would not so hard to do, because I remember how she wasn't drop any tears when a doctor injected her, the last time we met a doctor. But, I was wrong.

From the 9-12 o'clock's schedule, I hitted Kalibata City again by 11 am. The teacher had texted me before and telling that Malika won't come to the check up without me. And when I got there, that birthday girl looked like a missing kid =D feeling so sad when she saw me and quickly ask me to carry her.

As you may guess, she didn't want to open her mouth though she cried. Why couldn't she do that on any other days before =)? I know her teeth were just fine. But the doctor needed to see it herself. Asking nicely, try to tease her with goodybags, and try to distract her attention with a woman dressed up like a tooth fairy, she still stayed on her decision. And after 15 minutes, the birthday girl who had just giving away a chocolate mini cake to all the kids at school, still refused to open her mouth and insisted me to go immediately to nenek's house. And off we go then.

"gusi gigi, gusi gigi, gusi gigi ..." Malika sang it while we were on our way to Tebet with a cab. She didn't cry anymore.
"I wasn't afraid of the tooth fairy, but I don't like when someone want to see something in my mouth," she said.
"Besides, she hasn't have any doll." she was comparing to her previously doctor's room.
Well, she didn't realise that the tooth fairy is the 'doll' function in this case. What can I say, she is not a princess' freak. Maybe next time.
Happy birthday, Malika.
